Cynthia Caia, LMHC, Doctoral Student Intern

Cynthia Caia is a fourth-year clinical psychology doctoral student at the Florida School of Professional Psychology at National Louis University. She has worked with individuals from diverse backgrounds ranging from ages 5 to 60+. Her areas of training and of clinical interests include mood disorders, personality disorders, various types of trauma, complex/chronic trauma, domestic violence, sexuality, life adjustment, and grief. Cynthia also has interests in advocacy and volunteer work with marginalized populations.

She has earned master’s degrees in both counseling and clinical psychology. Before beginning doctoral training, she became licensed as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider designation (LPC-MHSP) in Tennessee. She previously worked in and was trained in outpatient community mental health settings and has additional training and work experience in mental health crisis evaluations, school-based mental health services, private practice, and non-profit.

Cynthia acknowledges that in order for change and healing to take place, there needs to be a strong and collaborative therapeutic relationship. She considers herself an integrative provider that tailors therapy to meet each client’s individual needs and goals.
